The Quinte Immigration Services Employer Toolkit: For Hiring Newcomers is an updated resource aimed at empowering employers in the Quinte Region to effectively employ and integrate newcomers into their workforce. In particular, we are making a new, dedicated commitment to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) in response to the evolving and diversifying dynamics of the local labour market, acknowledging the vital role of EDI in accommodating the realities of newcomers in today's workplace. Recognizing the unique challenges newcomers face, such as cultural competency, credential recognition, language barriers, and limited ethno-cultural support, our primary objective is to bridge the gap between employers and newcomers, looking to foster equitable opportunities and cross-cultural awareness within the community.
Our toolkit provides employers with valuable recommendations and strategies to enhance the hiring and integration of newcomers: from creating inclusive job postings to administering unbiased hiring practices, our focus on EDI underpins the core of the hiring and integration journey, cultivating a culture of inclusivity within organizations to ensure a smoother socio-cultural transition for immigrants.
